Thames Valley Summer 5K Series

We’re part of the Thames Valley Association of Running Clubs (TVARC) – a friendly network of local clubs that come together each summer for a series of relaxed 5k races. These events are just for club members, offering a great opportunity to run, socialise, and enjoy a bit of healthy competition.

The races take place on Tuesday evenings (usually 7:30pm) from May through to July, all within easy reach of Wargrave. They’re welcoming and informal – with plenty of club spirit, friendly competition between teams, a published results list, and a great atmosphere.

One of the best bits? The post-run spread. Each host club puts on sandwiches, cakes and more, so don’t forget to bring your own plate and cup as part of our eco-friendly approach.

Wargrave & Twyford Runners traditionally host the first race in the series, and it’s very much a team effort. We rely on our members to help make it happen – from marshalling and parking to food prep. The good news is that many volunteering roles still allow you to take part in the run.

Entry is just £2 per race, or a bargain £10 for the full series. Payment is ideally by card on the day or via BACS in advance. Runners should wear their club vest or shirt, and club T-shirts can be purchased from Graeme.

The series is open to runners aged 12+, although some courses vary. A few are on quiet open roads, others are fully off-road. Burnham’s race has a minimum age of 18 due to its road-based route. As always, junior runners remain the responsibility of their parents.
