Thames Valley ARC Summer 5K Series

We are members of the Thames Valley Association of Running Clubs (TVARC) which is a group of local running clubs, most of which organise a 5k race on a summer evening. These races are open to members of the running clubs, but not to the general public.

The races are usually run at 7:30pm on a Tuesday evening between May and July, and are all within reasonably easy reach of Wargrave.

These are friendly and relaxed events and there are no teams or prizes, although a results list is published. The 5k Series has been running for many years and historical results from 1992 can be found here. After race refreshments are provided by the host club as a spread of sandwiches, cakes, etc. We are ecologically and environmentally friendly so participants bring their own plates and cups.

Traditionally Wargrave & Twyford Runners organise the first race in the series and we rely on members to help out with the running of the race, on the day and with preparations, such as food preparation, marshalling, parking marshals etc. Many volunteering roles will still allow members to run the 5k.

Entry to an event is only £2, or £10 for the entire series. Members should run in a club shirt/vest.

There is a minimum age limit of 12 for the series, and some are run on quiet but open roads, others are completely off road. Burnham have specified a minimum age of 18 for their race as it is mostly on country roads. Junior runners are the responsibility of their parents.
